Courses in Biological Sciences University at Albany

(Formerly A BIO 121.) First course in a two semester sequence which offers a comprehensive survey of the structures and  functions common to all living systems at the molecular, cellular, organismal, and population levels. This course emphasizes molecular and cell biology, and genetics. It is part of the core requirements for the Biology/BA, Biology/BS, and BCAMB/BS programs as well as an admissions prerequisite for most health care programs. May not be taken for credit by students who have credit for A BIO 111 or A BIO 121.

In our continuing effort to reduce water use, UAlbany has installed low flow fixtures for showers and bathroom facilities across campus and our grounds are irrigated with water from Parker Pond. Some ideas include turning off running water when its not in use, taking shorter showers and baths, and only running the washing machine and dishwasher when they are full. UAlbany buses provides safe, reliable and efficient services to the campus community. Current students and employees have free access to the regular CDPHP Cycle!

City aim to grow Albany’s urban forest and biodiversity

Facilities include public toilets, cold showers, non-potable running water, fish cleaning station, public barbeques, and bins. Fires are allowed under strict guidance from the on-site caretaker, but you must bring in your own firewood prior to reaching the site. Camping is not permitted on the beach which has extremely soft sand and is exposed to the surf and tides which pose a significant risk. Camping is also not permitted from Mid-February till the end of April each year when the site is utilised by professional fishermen, however can be used as a day use area during this time. Sites cannot be pre-booked so please plan your trip accordingly so that you have time to find alternative accommodation if they are full.
